How Does this effect UWEC students?
At the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, the Chippewa River runs through campus. In the summer, students spend some weekends floating down the river on inner tubes. Some students might also canoe or kayak down the river as well. Less people would float, canoe, or kayak down the river if it was full of trash and debris. That is why the Leinenkugel's Canoes for a Cause appeals to University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students. Students should do something to make the river more enjoyable for themselves, but others, as well. Canoes for a Cause make rivers cleaner for the environment, but also more enjoyable for the people who use the river, creek, or lake.
A majority of students at UWEC are from either Wisconsin or Minnesota. Leinenkugel's holds the Canoes for a Cause events in both states. Some cities include, Minneapolis, Chippewa Falls, and Milwaukee. A student might live in the town that Canoes for a Cause is held in. They might even use that river, creek, or lake in the summer if their families travel.
