Background Information
Canoes for a Cause was started by Jake Leinenkugel, the current owner of the Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company. He started it around seven years ago in Chippewa Falls, WI. The first waterway that held a Canoes for a Cause event was Duncan Creek, which is in Chippewa Falls and runs through the Leinenkugel Brewery property. Chippewa Falls is the home of the Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company. The Leinenkugel family made a promise of water stewardship almost one hundred and fifty years ago, to have pure, clean water. They did this because water is very important in the brewing process, and the Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company is located right on the Big Eddy Springs. Leinekugel's have been using that water to brew their beer since they started. That was actually why Jacob Leinenkugel chose the Chippewa Falls area to build the brewery. The Canoes for a Cause event has been growing every single year. The Canoes for a Cause event can be found in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Michigan, Colorado, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina.
